My life started about 26 years ago. Since then I have experienced a crappy childhood, high school, working construction, being on a submarine in the U.S. Navy, working for a landscaping company, being a maintenance worker and janitor at my church, and working for a audio, video, and lighting company. My silver lining throughout most of these life experiences has been and still is my amazing wife. About a month ago I found myself sitting in a hotel room in Disney World for a family gathering all alone sick with multiple ulcers from working at a job I really hated. A few days after that my wife and I had put a very loose but careful plan together to get our lives back on track. Our goal was to be able to finally spend all the time together we missed out on in the previous six and a half years and to find a source of income that actually made us happy or at the very least allowed us to be happy.
My wife has some odds and ends jobs working in the kitchen at our church and cleaning some houses which brings in a helpful amount of income. However, its not quite enough no matter how smart and frugal we are. We are taking all the pickup jobs as they come and its just enough. Here is the rub...I want to write.
When I was in 6th grade we got a project where we had to write a poem. I was totally overwhelmed and had no idea even how to begin. The poem I wrote nearly got me expelled because the teacher swore that she had read it somewhere before. Well, of course, she had never read it and she later apologized. She also made it very clear that I seemed to have a knack for writing. So I stuck with it and over the years I got a few poems published even though it did not bring in any money. Now I would like to take my writing to the next level. However, being a writer takes money, money I do not have. Therefore, I will be making periodic contributions to this blog writing this and that in hopes that you who is reading this will appreciate and enjoy my words and maybe feel like making a contribution of your own. Thank you and please enjoy.
